About Us:
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has been established by
the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation Ordinance 1976 Ordinance
No.LXXXVIII (88) of 1976) . BPC is governed by The Bangladesh
Petroleum Act, 1974 (Act. No.LXLX of 1974), Bangladesh Petroleum
Corporation Ordinance 1976 and The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation
Rules 1976 (S.R.O. 169-L/77 dated 1.6.77). It has started function
on the 1st. January 1977.
Functions of BPC -
to acquire, import crude petroleum and other refined petroleum
products; - to refine crude petroleum and manufacture of various
refined petroleum products; - to set up refineries and ancillary
facilities; - to import lubricating oil both in the form of base
stock, necessary additives and other chemicals as well as finished
products; - to manufacture blended lubricating products; - to
set up lubricating plants including plants for recycling or
revamping of used lubricants; - to process and set up facilities
for processing of refinery waste or residual products; - to plan
and install petroleum (crude and refined) storage facilities;
- to determine allocation of petroleum products against the
marketing companies; - to procure inland oil tankers; - to
establish and expand petroleum marketing facilities; - to export
petroleum and petroleum products; - to act as managing agents of
or to enter into any management or any other agreement or contract
with, any farm or company; - to supervise co-ordinate and control
the affairs of the enterprises; - to discharge any other function
assigned or delegated to it by the Government from time to time, and
- to do such other acts and things as may be necessary for carrying
out the purposes of this ordinance.
BPC has 7 (Seven) subsidiary
companies of which there are 3 (three) Oil Marketing Companies, 1
(one) Refinery, 1 (one) LP Gas Plant and 2 (two) Lube Blending
