Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) is a statutory organization of the Government under Energy & Mineral Resources Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources. It has been established by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation Ordinance, 1976 (Ordinance No. LXXXVIII (88) of 1976). It came into operation since January, 1977. It's function is to act, oversee, co-ordinate and control all the activities relating to procurement, import, storage, marketing, distribution of petroleum products in the country and to develop infrastructure facilities to deal in POL.
Oil sector is considered to be the most sensitive sector of economy and macro economic indicators are greatly influenced by the supply and price of petroleum products. By considering its sensitivity to economy, government has taken oil sector under its absolute control by establishing this organization. BPC is contributing significantly to the total economy of the country by carrying out uninterrupted supply of petroleum products across the country. The main objective of the Corporation is to ensure supply of fuel to consumers in time through sound operational management and organized marketing activities.
BPC is catering the total demand of petroleum products of the country by proper import planning, smooth supply, distribution, adroit operation and through efficient management throughout the country. All officers and staff of BPC are fully committed to carry out the responsibility entrusted with them relentlessly and without fail.
