Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline, NRL to BPC
An MoU was signed last year on between India’s Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) to commission the 130-kilometre pipeline. A joint venture company having “equity” participation of both NRL and BPC will lay the pipeline from NRL's Siliguri marketing terminal in West Bengal to BPC's Parbatipur petroleum product storage depot in Dinajpur. The train carrying the first consignment of Indian gasoil to Bangladesh as a “goodwill gesture” reached Parbatipur on Saturday.
The Indian High Commisiioner, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Prime Minister’s Energy Affairs Adviser of Bangladesh, Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and Chairman of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation Md Mahmud Reza Khan were present in this ceremony.
